Burlington, WA – A motorcyclist was killed in a wrong-way Thursday morning crash on Interstate 5 in Burlington, according to the Washington State Police.
The incident occurred on 5 Freeway at George Hopper Road, just after 3 a.m.
Reportedly, the rider initially fled a traffic stop, exited at College Way, and later re-entered the Freeway and drove north in the southbound lanes.
Investigators said as the motorcyclist approached the Skagit River Bridge, they struck a part of the bridge and were ejected. The rider was hit by an oncoming semi-truck and died at the scene.
The identity of the deceased was withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
An investigation is ongoing.
