Milwaukie, OR – Four people were hospitalized, including two who suffered serious injuries, after a speeding sedan crashed into an SUV at an intersection in Milwaukie early Sunday morning, according to the Milwaukie Police Department.
The collision occurred at approximately 1:40 a.m. on August 30, 2026, at the intersection of SE McLoughlin Boulevard and SE 17th Avenue.
According to police, a sedan traveling southbound on SE McLoughlin Boulevard at a high rate of speed struck an SUV passenger vehicle at the intersection. Investigators said the sedan driver ran a red light, leading to the collision. Â The SUV was making a legal turn across oncoming traffic.
The driver and two passengers in the SUV were taken to the hospital. The police said two of the SUV occupants suffered serious injuries. The driver of the sedan was also hospitalized with moderate injuries.
Authorities said speed is considered a factor in the crash. Information regarding any arrests or citations was not provided.
Milwaukie police officers, a Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office deputy and Clackamas Fire personnel responded to the scene to assist the injured occupants. The Clackamas County Crime Reconstruction and Forensic Technicians (CRAFT) also responded to process and investigate the crash scene.
The intersection remained closed for several hours while investigators conducted their work before it was reopened.
The crash remains under investigation.
