Woodland Hills, Calif. – A male pedestrian has died following a crash that took place early Monday morning in Woodland Hills.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly auto-pedestrian wreck happened at around 3 a.m. on Ventura (101) Freeway just west of De Soto Avenue.

A male pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle while crossing the eastbound lanes on the 101 Freeway. The manner in which the incident occurred was not immediately released.

The victim was declared dead at the crash site.

The identity of the deceased was upheld pending notification of the next of kin.

A SigAlert was issued shutting down eastbound lanes 5 and 6 and the Canoga Avenue on-ramp to the eastbound Ventura Freeway.

An investigation is ongoing.
