Merced County, CA – Two people were killed following a head-on collision in Merced County Sunday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly collision happened around 11:00 p.m. on September 14, on Highway 59, south of Washington Road and west of Chowchilla.
Authorities said a southbound 2022 Camry, driven by a 28-year-old woman, for unknown reasons, drove into the northbound lanes and collided head-on with a northbound 2016 Toyota Camry, operated by a 30-year-old man.
The two drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. The names of the victims have not been released.
Investigators said it is not clear whether alcohol and/or drugs were factors in the crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
