Long Beach, CA – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on the Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach early Tuesday morning, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
The incident took place at around 6:57 a.m. January 29, on the PCH at Gundry Avenue, just east of Alamitos Avenue.
According to LBPD, a woman was trying to walk north across the PCH outside of a marked crosswalk when she was hit by a westbound 2024 Chevy Colorado.
The involved driver stopped at the scene after the accident and rendered aid to the injured pedestrian.
The Long Beach Police Department and Long Beach Fire Department crews arrived shortly after and the pedestrian was rushed to a hospital.
The woman sadly succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. The woman’s name was not released pending notification of the next-of-kin.
It’s unclear whether impairment, speed, or distracted driving played any role in the incident. The Long Beach Police Department is investigating the cause of the deadly accident.
