Long Beach, CA – The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office has released the identity of a pedestrian who was hit and killed by a vehicle in the Belmont Heights neighborhood on Tuesday afternoon.
Pamela Galloway, 59, was the victim of the collision that occurred on Ximeno Avenue and Fourth Street at about 12:57 p.m. on March 24.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, a woman driving a 2003 Toyota 4Runner was attempting to turn left from Fourth Street onto Ximeno Avenue when she hit a pedestrian walking across Ximeno Avenue in a marked crosswalk.
Paramedics with the Long Beach Fire Department arrived within minutes and performed life-saving measures on the victim but were unsuccessful. The victim, identified as Galloway, succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
The involved driver, only identified as a 53-year-old woman from Long Beach, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.
Authorities do not believe impairment, speed, or distracted driving played any role in the incident.

Investigators reported that a woman driving a 2003 Toyota 4Runner was trying to make a left turn from Fourth Street onto Ximeno Avenue when she struck a woman walking across Ximeno Avenue. The pedestrian was reportedly in the crosswalk when she was struck by the vehicle.
Paramedics with the Long Beach Fire Department performed life-saving measures on the pedestrian but were unsuccessful. The victim succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
The victim’s identity will be released by the Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner once her next-of-kin has been notified.
The driver of the involved vehicle, only identified as a 53-year-old Long Beach woman, stayed at the scene and was cooperative with the investigators.
The LBPD do not believe impairment, speed, or distraction played any role in the incident. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact 562-570-7355.
