Lompoc, CA – 32-year-old Victor Madrid died after a passenger car collided with a semi-truck Tuesday afternoon on Highway 1 in Lompoc, the Santa Barbara County Coroner’s Bureau reported.
The Lompoc man was killed in the crash around 2:20 p.m. on August 25, 2026, near Jalama Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Honda Pilot collided with a semi-truck under unclear circumstances. The crash left the big rig jackknifed in traffic lanes.
CHP officers, Santa Barbara County firefighters, Lompoc firefighters, American Medical Response, and the Sheriff-Coroner’s Office responded to the scene.
Madrid was driving the Honda and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The semi-truck driver was treated for minor injuries but was not hospitalized.

Lompoc, CA – Authorities are investigating a big rig accident that left one person dead on Highway 1 near Lompoc on Tuesday afternoon.
At around 2 p.m. on August 25, Santa Barbara County Fire Department crews were called to the scene of a crash near Jalama Road.
Initial reports indicate that a car and a big rig were involved in the accident. The two crashed on the highway for reasons yet to be established.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and made contact with the parties involved in the collision.
The driver of the car was declared deceased at the scene. The identity of the deceased motorist was not immediately released.
The operator of the big rig, who also remained unnamed, was treated for minor injuries.
A section of Highway 1 was shut down for an unspecified duration as a result of the accident.
