Lodi, CA – One person was killed in a two-vehicle head-on crash on State Route 88 in Lodi on Thursday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The fatal collision occurred at approximately 8:28 p.m. on Thursday on State Route 88 at East Tokay Colony Road.

Preliminary reports indicate the crash involved a blue sedan and a black sedan. The two vehicles collided head-on, causing significant damage. One of the vehicles overturned and came to rest on its roof in the roadway.

Authorities reported that one person in the blue vehicle was possibly killed in the crash. The CHP later requested the San Joaquin County Coroner’s Office to respond to the scene. Information regarding additional injuries was not immediately available. Officials have not released the identity of the deceased pending notification of the next of kin.

Emergency personnel from local fire and medical agencies responded to the scene and assisted the victims. Two heavily damaged vehicles were removed from the roadway as part of the investigation and cleanup efforts.

The collision forced the closure of State Route 88 just west of East Tokay Colony Road for approximately one to two hours as authorities conducted their investigation and cleared the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.
