According to the CHP, a gray Nissan Armada, a grey Toyota Tundra, and a semi-truck were involved in the crash. CHP said the semi-truck continued traveling eastbound without stopping after the collision.
The Toyota Tundra overturned following the crash.
The driver of the Toyota Tundra was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported in the crash. Authorities did not announce any arrests but said they are actively searching for the semi-truck driver involved.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the crash and began managing traffic and investigating the incident. Officials later confirmed the collision as fatal approximately 30 minutes after the initial report.
The crash significantly impacted traffic on Interstate 580, with the three right lanes initially blocked and later expanding to four lanes, causing major delays for about three hours.
