Klamath County, OR – A man was killed Saturday night when his Honda sedan crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a tractor-trailer on Highway 97 in Klamath County, according to Oregon State Police.
The OSP identified the deceased party as 21-year-old Elias Keyin Sorenson from Eugene.
The two-vehicle crash was reported at approximately 8:50 p.m. Sept. 5 near milepost 200.
OSP said Sorenson was driving a Honda northbound on Highway 97 when he crossed the center line and collided head-on with a white Volvo semi-truck hauling a 53-foot trailer that was traveling south.
Sorenson died at the crash scene. The Volvo driver, Jose Luis Sotelo-Monge, 64, of Tulare, California, suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
Highway 97 remained affected for approximately five hours as troopers conducted their investigation and crews worked at the crash site.
The Oregon State Police investigation was assisted by the Chemult Rural Fire Protection District, Crescent Fire District, and Oregon Department of Transportation.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation
