Kent, WA – A 55-year-old man was hit and killed by a vehicle while crossing a street in Kent on Saturday night, according to the Kent Police Department.

The collision was reported at around 9:40 p.m. July 18, on Pacific Highway South and South 236th Street.

According to police, a vehicle was leaving the light rail station when it tried to turn from 236th Street onto Pacific Highway and hit a pedestrian. The vehicle was on a green light when it struck the pedestrian in a crosswalk.

Kent police responded to investigate the incident and medics performed life-saving measures on the pedestrian.

Despite their efforts, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The victim was identified by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office as Luis G. Jimenez Rodriguez, 55.

The driver of the involved vehicle, a 35-year-old Federal Way resident, was arrested on DUI-related charges.

The accident remained under investigation by the Kent Police Department.
