Mission Viejo, CA – 60-year-old Duo Liang died after she was struck by a DUI suspect that happened Saturday night at an intersection in Mission Viejo, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department reported.
The incident was reported around 9:20 p.m. on August 8, 2026, at Pacific Crest Drive and Glenwood Drive.
Sheriff’s deputies and Orange Fire Authority personnel responded to the area after they were informed about a pedestrian accident.
The responders found Liang, a Mission Viejo resident, lying down with severe injuries. The firefighters took Liang to the hospital, where he died the following day.
Sheriff’s deputies arrested the driver of the car, identified as Caleb Thomas Baeza of Mission Viejo, on suspicion of driving under the influence. He was booked into the Orange County Jail.
Authorities are investigating the accident.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, the accident happened around 9:19 p.m. in the area of Pacific Crest Drive and Glenwood Drive.
A 60-year-old woman was found on the ground with severe injuries after being struck by a car.
The unidentified woman was taken to the hospital, where she later died.
The 18-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI and was booked into the Orange County Jail.
