Preliminary reports indicate that Noah Merchant, 26, was driving a Jeep in the area when he ran a red light at the intersection and crashed into a Toyota RAV4 heading west on Van Mall Drive.

Vancouver, WA – The second person who was injured in an auto-pedestrian collision involving a suspected DUI driver on Sunday night in Vancouver has succumbed to his injuries.
According to a report by the Vancouver Police Department, the collision took place on Northeast Andresen Road and Van Mall Drive at about 9:45 p.m. on October 4.
Preliminary reports indicate that Noah Merchant, 26, was driving a Jeep in the area when he ran a red light at the intersection and crashed into a Toyota RAV4 heading west on Van Mall Drive.
The force of the crash pushed the Jeep off the roadway and it struck two pedestrians on the south crosswalk. The pedestrians were trying to cross the intersection on a light when the incident took place.
One of the pedestrians, a 34-year-old woman, was declared deceased at the scene.
The other pedestrian, a 43-year-old man, was taken to a hospital with critical injuries. On Tuesday morning, Vancouver police reported that the man had succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Investigators reported the impairment was believed to have played a role in the crash. Merchant was booked into Clark County Jail on charges of DUI, vehicular homicide, and reckless driving.
The Vancouver Police Department continues to investigate the accident.
