Coos County, OR – The Oregon State Police is investigating a multi-car crash that claimed John William Henderson, 69, of Roseburg, on Highway 42 in Coos County, Thursday morning.
The crash involving three vehiclest was reported on November 13, 2025, at 10:58 a.m. on State Route 42 near milepost 2.
Investigators revealed that a westbound Chevrolet Malibu, operated by John, failed to negotiate a curve and entered the eastbound lane, where it hit nearly head-on an eastbound Freightliner commercial motor vehicle pulling double trailers, driven by Paul Cle Tigrett, 54, of Sutherlin.
A Peterbilt commercial motor vehicle operated by 72-year-old Thomas Patrick Meyer of Coquille then crashed into the concrete barrier while avoiding the collision.
John Henderson was transported to an area hospital, where he later died. His passenger, William Gene Henderson, 76, of Bandon, was hospitalized with serious injuries.
Tigrett and Meyer were not injured.
The crash impacted the highway for about four hours.
The wreck remains under investigation.
