Original Story

Irwindale, CA – A woman was killed and at least 32 other people were injured, including two who suffered critical injuries, in a major multi-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck on Interstate 210 in Irwindale on Saturday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision occurred at approximately 8:55 a.m. on westbound Interstate 210 near the Irwindale Avenue on-ramp.

Preliminary investigation indicates a red semi-truck was traveling on eastbound Interstate 210 when it crossed the center divider and broke through the median barrier into the westbound lanes. The semi then jackknifed across multiple lanes of traffic and collided with at least two vehicles.

A woman sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. At least 32 other people were injured in the crash. Two of the patients suffered critical injuries. Emergency personnel transported at least seven patients, including six juveniles, to Huntington Memorial Hospital for treatment. The other injured parties declined transportation. The identities of those involved have not been released.

California Highway Patrol officers, Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel, Irwindale Police officers, Caltrans crews, and other emergency responders rushed to the scene. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office was also called to investigate the fatality. Tow crews were later dispatched to remove the damaged vehicles, including the semi-truck and a Ford Transit van.

The crash caused severe traffic disruptions throughout the area. All westbound lanes of Interstate 210 were temporarily closed at Irwindale Avenue, while portions of the eastbound freeway were also blocked due to guardrail damage and wreckage. Traffic was diverted off the freeway for several hours as emergency crews treated victims and investigators processed the scene. Lanes gradually reopened throughout the afternoon.

The crash remains under investigation, and authorities have not released additional details regarding the circumstances surrounding the deadly collision
