San Fernando, CA – A Thursday afternoon collision involving a semi-truck at a grocery store parking lot in San Fernando left a pedestrian deceased, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The incident took place shortly before 2 p.m. January 15, in the 6700 block of N. Van Nuys Boulevard near Vanowen Street.
According to the LAPD, the semi-truck was pulling into the loading bay of the grocery store when the rig hit the pedestrian.
The Los Angeles Fire Department medical personnel arrived at the scene shortly after and the victim was confirmed deceased at the scene.
The pedestrian was only identified as a 55-year-old man. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner responded to the scene to handle the remains of the victim.
A section of the parking lot was cordoned off as authorities investigated the incident. The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating to determine what led up to the accident.
