Huntington Beach, CA – A 70-year-old bicyclist was killed in a traffic collision on Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach on Monday morning, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department.
The fatal crash occurred on Pacific Coast Highway near Newland Street at approximately 11:50 a.m.
As per the police, the man was riding a bicycle southbound on Pacific Coast Highway and began merging into traffic to make an eastbound turn onto Newland Street when he was hit by a southbound Subaru operated by a 20-year-old man.
The bicyclist was found unconscious in the roadway and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released. The driver of the Subaru was not injured and remained at the scene. No arrests have been reported.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and attempted to assist the victim.
The crash impacted traffic along Pacific Coast Highway as authorities conducted their investigation.
The incident remains under investigation by the Huntington Beach Police Department.
