The driver of a Honda Civic was standing in traffic lanes on 5 Freeway after his vehicle stalled when several other cars hit his vehicle and the motorist

Chula Vista, Calif. – The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the man who died after being hit by a vehicle after his car stalled in traffic lanes on Interstate in Chula Vista Monday night.
According to the sheriff’s office, Hinga Benos, 39, died in a crash that happened around 10:40 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the 5 Freeway north of Palomar Street.
CHP said the Benson’s Honda Civic was stalled in the southbound travel lanes of the freeway died to mechanical issues. Benson exited his vehicle and an oncoming vehicle crashed into the Honda and Benson. The Honda was also struck by an additional vehicle.
Besno sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
All drivers involved in the crash stopped and remained at the scene.
Investigators closed the three left lanes of the freeway north of Palomar Street for about four hours following the collision.

Chula Vista, Calif. – At least one person was killed in a multi-car crash Monday night on Interstate 5 in Chula Vista.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the wreck happened at around 10:36 p.m. on the 5 Freeway near Palomar Street.
A car stalled and was blocking the freeway’s middle lanes, leading to a chain reaction crash, the CHP said.
At least one person was killed in the accident.
The identity of the deceased was withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
The CHP issued a SigAlert closing left three lanes on the 5 Freeway as officers investigated the crash.
No more details about the wreck were provided.
The incident remains under investigation.
