San Diego, CA – A 20-year-old woman died after being struck by a vehicle shortly after an initial crash that happened early Wednesday morning in San Diego.
According to authorities, the incident transpired around 1:12 a.m. on July 14, 2026, Â on the southbound Interstate 5 near Washington Street.
Investigators established that an Infiniti occupied by two women crashed into the center divider under unclear circumstances and became disabled in traffic lanes.
Both occupants got out of the car before a Toyota SUV driven by a 52-year-old Chula Vista man struck the disabled vehicle and the 20-year-old woman.
The woman died from her injuries at the scene.
The California Highway Patrol San Diego Area Office is investigating the accident.

San Diego, CA. – One person was killed in a car crash that happened in San Diego’s Mission Hills neighborhood early Wednesday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 1:13 a.m. on southbound I-5 at Washington Street.
Two vehicles were involved in the collision. One vehicle came to rest on the right-hand shoulder, and the other stopped in the center divider.
One person was killed in the accident.
The name of the deceased person was not immediately disclosed.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
