Guerneville, CA – A pedestrian was killed in a crash involving a suspected impaired driver at an intersection in Guerneville Tuesday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Investigators said a Dodge Ram traveling northbound on First Street turned left onto Highway 116 and struck a pedestrian who was crossing the roadway. Authorities said the pedestrian crosswalk signal had been activated prior to the collision.
The victim sustained major injuries and was transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, where the pedestrian later died Tuesday night. The identity of the victim has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin. The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and additional related charges.
Authorities believe impairment was a contributing factor in the crash.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and provided medical aid before transporting the injured pedestrian to the hospital.
The collision caused disruptions in the area surrounding Highway 116 and Armstrong Woods Road as officers conducted their investigation.
The California Highway Patrol Santa Rosa area office continues to investigate the fatal crash.
