Graham, WA – One person died in a collision involving a school bus that also left State Route 161 closed in both directions Thursday afternoon in Graham.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the accident involved an Eatonville School District school bus and a truck and happened around 4:30 p.m. on June 11, 2026, on SR-161 at milepost 18.

Initial reports said the driver of the truck was in critical condition, but later updated that one person died.

The school bus had 40 students on board at the time of the crash. One of the learners was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. The other bus occupants were evaluated at the scene.

According to the Eatonville School District, the school bus was transporting Eatonville Middle School eighth grade students back to Eatonville after a field trip.

Authorities closed both directions of SR-161 as crews worked the scene.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
