, CA – The authorities have released the name of a motorcyclist who was killed in a crash on Interstate in San Diego on Saturday afternoon.

The Medical Examiner's Office identified the deceased rider as Elijah James Welsh, a 30-year-old resident of San Diego.

It was initially reported that a motorcycle and two vehicles were involved in the crash. However, the San Diego Police Department has clarified that the incident was a single-vehicle crash.

According to SDPD, Elijah Welsh was severely injured after the motorcycle he was riding struck a concrete barrier at about 3:33 p.m. on September 20 on the transition ramp from I-15 to SR-163.

Responding paramedics transported Welsh to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead at about 4:18 p.m. the same day.

San Diego, CA – One person was killed in a collision involving multiple vehicles in San Diego on Saturday afternoon, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol.

The incident took place on the I-15 Express Lanes at the Cabrillo (163) Freeway merger at around 3:33 p.m. on September 20.

According to the report, a white Mustang, a black BMW, and a motorcycle were involved in the collision.

One person died at the site of the accident.

It's unclear whether the person killed was the motorcyclist or another party involved in the crash.

Traffic in the southbound lanes of the 15 Freeway was impacted.

The cause of the collision is under investigation by the CHP
