El Cerrito, CA – A 57-year-old woman was killed early Friday morning after being struck by a vehicle while walking in El Cerrito, authorities said.
The collision occurred around 5:40 a.m. in the 1700 block of Eastshore Boulevard.
According to police, the woman was crossing mid-block and was not in a crosswalk when she was hit by a northbound maroon Subaru Outback.
Fire personnel and paramedics responded to the scene and attempted life-saving measures, but the woman was pronounced dead at the location. Her identity has not been released pending notification of her family.
El Cerrito police said the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. No arrests were made.
The crash remains under investigation, and police asked anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information to contact authorities.
