El Cajon, CA – One person was killed after two vehicles collided on Willow Glen Drive in El Cajon on Monday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities identified the deceased as 80-year-old Evelyn Buangan Castro of San Diego.
The fatal two-car collision occurred on Willow Glen Drive, east of Jamacha Road, at approximately 5:57 p.m. on Monday, March 30, 2026, CHP reports indicated.
The incident happened when one vehicle apparently veered across the center line of traffic and collided head-on with the vehicle in which Castro was traveling. Castro was an unrestrained passenger in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
Responding paramedics provided life-saving measures to Castro while transporting her to Sharp Memorial Hospital. Despite continued medical efforts upon arrival, she was pronounced dead at 7:04 p.m. due to multiple blunt force injuries. Information regarding the drivers or other potential injuries was not immediately available, and no arrests were mentioned in the initial report.
The California Highway Patrol and local emergency medical services responded to the scene after witnesses called 911.
The crash necessitated a significant response from authorities on Willow Glen Drive.
