San Diego, CA – A 29-year-old man died Thursday night after a crash involving a San Diego Metropolitan Transit System bus, the San Diego Police Department reported.
According to police, the accident took place around 9:50 p.m. in the 300 block of West B Street in the Core Columbia neighborhood.
According to a preliminary investigation, the man was lying on the ground along the north curbline in a dirt parkway when an MTS bus stopped nearby.
The man reportedly moved his legs into the roadway, positioned partially in the street, with his legs extending in front of the rear axle of the bus.
Authorities said the bus pulled away from the curb and ran over the man’s lower legs. The victim sustained fatal injuries. First responders pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Police officers did not immediately determine the circumstances that led to the incident, but an investigation is ongoing.
