Davis, CA – 60-year-old Julie Veress, a Sutter Health employee, died after a collision involving two bicycles that happened on Monday, March 2, in the Community Park area of Davis.
According to the Davis Police Department, the incident took place around 2:48 p.m. on a bike path at West Covell Boulevard and Catalina Drive near Davis High School.
Police officers responded to the scene, where Veress was riding a bicycle when she collided with a boy riding an electric bike.
Veress died at the scene. She was identified Tuesday by the Yolo County Coroner’s Office.
Sutter Health released a statement confirming Veress was one of their employees.
The juvenile, whose age was not mentioned, suffered minor injuries in the accident.
Police temporarily closed the bike path while they investigated.
The cause of the collision was not immediately established, but DPD’s Major Accident Investigation Team is handling the investigation.
