Police said Dakota Blue Gilbert, 22, of Veneta, entered the roadway and was struck by an eastbound SUV

Lane County, OR – A pedestrian was killed Sunday morning in a hit-and-run accident in Lane County, according to the police.
The deadly accident happened around 5:59 a.m. on August 31 at the intersection of Highway 126 and Huston Road.
Police said Dakota Blue Gilbert, 22, of Veneta, entered the roadway and was struck by an eastbound SUV.
Gilbert died at the scene.
The SUV fled the scene after the accident.
The authorities are looking for the suspect vehicle and the driver. The suspect vehicle was described as a light colored 2010-2013 Chevrolet Equinox and will likely have front end damage, possibly lower to the ground, and is likely operable.
