Los Angeles, CA. — A bicyclist was killed Wednesday evening in a hit-and-run crash in the South Park neighborhood of South Los Angeles, authorities reported.

The collision occurred around 7:25 p.m. in the 700 block of East Vernon Avenue, between Avalon Boulevard and McKinley Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Responding officers found the cyclist lying in the roadway and called Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics, who pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Police said witnesses reported seeing a motorcycle leaving the scene, but were unable to provide a detailed description.

The victim's identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

LAPD is investigating the incident.
