According to authorities, the incident occurred around 4:15 a.m. in the 1300 block of East Vernon Avenue.
A woman in her 50s or 60s was crossing the street when she got hit by a car under unclear circumstances.
First responders pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.
The driver stopped and remained at the scene.
Impairment is not believed to be a contributing factor.
