Traffic safety trends in Concord show fluctuations in fatal and injury collisions over recent years. In 2022, Concord had 523 victims killed or injured in fatal and injury collisions, ranking 46th among comparably sized California cities. In 2023, that number decreased to 496 victims, and the city’s ranking improved to 36th in its peer group according to OTS crash rankings, indicating a modest reduction in serious collisions year-over-year. Alcohol-involved collisions remained similar, with 76 victims in 2022 versus 73 in 2023. Motorcycle involvement rose from 19 to 34 victims, while pedestrian crash counts stayed consistent at 43 victims. Speed-related and nighttime crash totals both increased slightly. Over a longer span, Concord’s serious collision counts have trended downward from earlier highs (e.g., 630 victims in 2019), reflecting some broader variation in local traffic outcomes. These changes suggest incremental improvements in overall severe crash frequency, but persistent safety concerns remain.
