Police officers and other emergency personnel responded to Cohasset Road near Ryan Avenue around 11:30 a.m. on July 2, 2026, after they were notified about a bicycle collision.
Chico, CA – 78-year-old Michael Gouda of Chico died Thursday morning in a bicycle accident that happened near an intersection in the city, the Chico Police Department reported.
Police officers and other emergency personnel responded to Cohasset Road near Ryan Avenue around 11:30 a.m. on July 2, 2026, after they were notified about a bicycle collision.
The responders found a man down in the roadway with serious injuries.
Paramedics attempted life-saving measures, but the victim, identified as Gouda, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said Gouda was riding a bicycle in the area when he collided with a car.
The driver of the car remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Drugs, alcohol, and speed are not believed to be contributing factors.
Cohasset Road remained closed during the investigation.
