Brentwood, CA – One person was killed following a two-vehicle collision early Tuesday morning on State Route 4 in Brentwood, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash was reported at approximately 1:43 a.m. on eastbound State Route 4 just west of Balfour Road.
CHP incident logs indicate the collision involved an older BMW sedan and a Ford F-250 pickup truck carrying landscaping equipment. Investigators said the Ford pickup overturned during the crash, while the BMW came to rest in the center divider. Debris from the collision was scattered across multiple lanes of the highway.
Authorities said at least one person was killed in the Brentwood crash. A male driver who exited the pickup truck reportedly required medical attention after the collision. Additional details regarding the identities of those involved or other injuries were not immediately available.
Emergency crews from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District and law enforcement agencies responded to the scene shortly after the crash was reported. Tow crews were later called to remove the overturned Ford pickup and the damaged BMW from the roadway.
CHP officers closed Eastbound State Route 4 near Balfour Road for several hours. Traffic was diverted at Sand Creek Road while crews cleared debris, landscaping materials, and damaged vehicles from the highway. All lanes reopened shortly before 5:00 a.m.
The incident remains under investigation.
