
Arden-Arcade, CA.- The California Highway Patrol is investigating an accident that left a pedestrian dead in Arden-Arcade on Thursday afternoon.
Authorities responded shortly before 2 p.m. November 27, to the crash on Marconi Avenue just west of Burnece Street.
The CHP reported that a woman was walking her dog across Marconi Avenue from the north side to the south when she was hit by a Toyota.
The woman, who was not identified, died in the accident. The driver was unhurt and remained at the scene. Authorities said DUI was not believed to have been a factor in the accident. The investigation is ongoing.
Drivers are required by law to exercise due care to avoid collisions with pedestrians. Pedestrians walking in marked and unmarked crosswalks at intersections have the right of way. Furthermore, pedestrians attempting to cross outside of the crosswalks must yield to vehicle to avoid being hit.
