According to recent data from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS), the city of Antioch has seen a slight decrease in overall traffic crash victims, but several high-risk areas remain concerning. The latest available complete annual data for 2022 ranks Antioch in several collision categories compared to 60 other similar-sized California cities. In 2023, the city recorded 220 traffic-related injuries and fatalities, a reduction from 237 in 2022, but speed and impaired driving persist as key issues. For 2022, Antioch ranked as follows in categories involving victims killed and injured: Total Fatal and Injury Collisions: 51st out of 61 cities, with 237 victims. Bicyclists: 56th out of 61, with 9 victims. Motorcycles: 17th out of 61, with 22 victims. Alcohol-Involved: 40th out of 61, with 34 victims. Specifically, the city ranked 6th out of 61 for crashes involving a “Had Been Drinking Driver < 21” (8 victims), indicating a significant issue with underage impaired driving relative to other cities. In response to these persistent challenges, the Antioch Police Department received $158,000 in grants from the OTS in late 2025 to support programs focusing on DUI checkpoints, distracted driving enforcement, and community education.
