Anacortes, WA – One person was flown to a hospital after being involved in a big rig collision near Anacortes on Tuesday morning, the Washington State Patrol reported.
At around 10:30 a.m. July 28, authorities responded to reports of a crash on Interstate 5 at milepost 37 near Miller Road.
Initial reports indicate that an SUV and a semi-truck collided in the westbound lanes of SR 20.
According to WSP, the driver of the SUV was airlifted to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
The driver of the big rig was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
According to the Washington State Department of Transportation, the accident caused a closure of the westbound lanes of SR 20 and traffic was diverted onto Gibralter Road.
The WSP is investigating the cause of the accident.
