Downey, CA – The woman who was killed early Saturday morning after a car crashed into a home in Downey has been identified as Agia Guirguis, 72, of Downey, according to the county Medical Examiner’s office.
The fatal crash happened around 2:30 a.m. on August 16 in the 9500 block of Gallatin Road just west of the Santa Ana (5) Freeway.
Police said a 24-year-old Maywood man was driving eastbound when he crashed into a home.
Guirguis was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 24-year-old woman was taken to a trauma center for treatment.
The driver of the car was uninjured in the accident. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
The police are investigating the accident.
