Los Angeles, CA. – Five people were injured, four of them seriously, after a car being pursued by police officers crashed into two others Wednesday evening in the Rancho Park neighborhood of West Los Angeles.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, deputies started chasing two suspects in a stolen blue Lexus SUV in East Los Angeles when the driver continued to evade the deputies as they drove through downtown.
The driver and a passenger tossed car batteries at deputies during the chase.
The suspect's vehicle then crashed into two other cars in the area of 2990 South Overland Avenue. One of the vehicles caught fire.
Four people sustained serious injuries in the crash.
A fifth person was evaluated for minor injuries.
The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene and provided medical aid to the victims.
It was unclear which cars the victims occupied.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
