Woodland Hills, CA – One person was killed and another hospitalized after an early Tuesday morning collision in Woodland Hills, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
A single vehicle was involved in the wreck that took place in the 5900 block of North Valley Circle Boulevard at Canon Avenue just before 1:25 a.m. January 20.
According to the preliminary investigation, a vehicle carrying two people was traveling at a high rate of speed in the area when it lost control and slammed into a tree. The two men inside the car were trapped in the wreckage.
The Los Angeles police and personnel from the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene of the crash and helped extricate the trapped parties.
The passenger in the vehicle was decleared dead at the scene. The driver was taken to a hospital with unknown injuries.
The LAPD reported that the driver was suspected to have been driving while impaired. Speed is also believed to have played a role in the accident.
The names of the driver and passenger involved in the collision were not immediately released. An investigation into the incident is being conducted by the Los Angeles Police Department.
