Indio, CA – A 45-year-old woman was killed and two other people hospitalized after a head-on collision on Fred Waring Drive in Indio Friday morning.
The crash was reported just before 6:00 a.m. on Fred Waring Drive, near Avenue 44, according to the Indio Police Department.
The police said the wreck happened when a BMW sedan veered into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on with a Nissan Sentra.
The passenger in the the BMW, a 45-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene, the driver is in stable condition.
Two people in the Nissan suffered major injuries and were taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs and the car's driver was listed to be in critical condition.
The Fred Waring Drive was closed between Hoover Street and Monroe Street for several hours.
