The two-vehicle collision involving a Mercedes SUV and a red Pontiac caused lane closures and sent three people to the hospital Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

Los Angeles, CA – Three people were injured after two vehicles collided on the eastbound lanes of State Route 118 in Porter Ranch on Friday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The crash was reported around 2:43 p.m. on October 24 on the eastbound 118 Freeway just east of Reseda Boulevard, prompting a significant emergency response.
A SigAlert was issued shortly after, closing the HOV, No. 1, and No. 2 lanes for about 30 minutes while crews worked to clear the roadway.
According to CHP traffic logs, the collision involved a white Mercedes SUV and a red Pontiac sedan. The Pontiac reportedly flipped over during the crash but landed back on its wheels. Witnesses said a good Samaritan in a white Jeep Wrangler stopped to help the Pontiac's driver exit the vehicle safely before emergency responders arrived.
Three parties were transported to Northridge Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. The authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved.
Two tow trucks were requested to remove the damaged vehicles, and lanes were reopened around 3:37 p.m., once debris and wreckage were cleared from the scene.
The California Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the cause of the collision.
