South Los Angeles, CA. – Two Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies were hospitalized after a hit-and-run crash that happened Sunday night at an intersection in South LA.

The accident took place around 9:10 p.m. at West 98th Street and South Vermont Avenue.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, two of their deputies were traveling northbound on South Vermont Avenue when another car heading eastbound hit their car. The other vehicle was reportedly driving without lights on.

The patrol vehicle was pushed into a nearby electric pole.

The driver of the other vehicle attempted to flee on foot but was quickly detained. It was unclear if the suspect was arrested by Good Samaritans or other deputies.

The deputies were transported to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The intersection was closed during the investigation.
