The driver and a passenger were killed in the accident
San Leandro, CA. – Two people were killed and three others were injured after a police pursuit ended in a crash in San Leandro on Saturday.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 3:41 a.m. on Interstate 238 near 14th Street.
Two CHP officers in a single patrol car reportedly attempted to pull over a white Mercedes for speeding on Interstate 580 in Castro Valley.
The driver failed to stop and sped on I-238 before crashing into a sound wall.
The driver and a passenger were killed in the accident.
A second passenger was hospitalized with serious injuries.
The pursuing CHP officers also crashed into the sound wall, leaving them with major injuries.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
