A preliminary investigation found that a man was driving a 2005 Nissan Altima at a high rate of speed northbound on Long Beach Boulevard when he struck the rear of a 2018 Jeep Cherokee

Long Beach, CA.- One person was killed in a multi-vehicle collision in Long Beach on Saturday night, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
The accident was reported shortly before 7 p.m. November 22, on Long Beach Boulevard and East San Antonio Drive.
A preliminary investigation found that a man was driving a 2005 Nissan Altima at a high rate of speed northbound on Long Beach Boulevard when he struck the rear of a 2018 Jeep Cherokee.
The impact pushed the Jeep into the sidewalk, where it crashed into a fire hydrant, then struck a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban in a parking lot.
Police said the driver of the Nissan was declared deceased at the scene.
The drivers of the other vehicles remained at the scene after the accident.
Speed and impairment were suspected to have played a role in the accident, which remains under investigation.
