Lompoc, Calif.- One person was killed and another one was injured in a collision that took place in Lompoc on Wednesday morning, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

The accident took place on Highway 1 near Vandenberg Village at about 8:50 a.m.

Two vehicles were reportedly involved in the collision on the highway at Santa Lucia Canyon Road.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other patients were transported to hospitals for treatment of moderate and major injuries.

The highway was reduced to one lane as authorities worked to clear the scene.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
