Merced, CA – A motorist was killed and another suffered injuries after a two-vehicle collision early this morning on Santa Fe Drive in Merced.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the grisly wreck happened just after 2 a.m. in the area of Santa Fe Drive and Avenue 2, just east of Atwater.
Reports revealed a BMW was driving on Santa Fe Drive when it somehow crossed into the opposite lane and collided with another vehicle near Avenue 2.
The driver of the BMW was pronounced dead at the scene while the other driver, who is said to be in his 60s, was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries for treatment.
The identity of the deceased was not immediately disclosed.
The police said it was unclear whether drugs and alcohol played a role in the crash.
More information about the collision was not available.
