El Cajon, CA – Authorities have identified the pedestrian who died after being struck by a pickup truck on East Main Street in El Cajon on Saturday.
The San Diego County Medical Examiner identified the victim as Brian Charlie Dillahunt, 37.
The collision occurred in the 1300 block of East Main Street at about 4:43 a.m. on October 24, 2026.
El Cajon police said officers and Heartland Fire personnel responded after receiving a report that a vehicle had struck a man who was lying in a traffic lane.
Dillahunt was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego, where he was pronounced dead at 6:03 a.m. from multiple blunt force injuries, according to medical examiner records. Police have not explained why he was in the roadway before the collision.
The pickup truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police said driving under the influence did not appear to be a factor in the crash.
