San Diego, CA – The 14-year-old who was killed in a crash on Navajo Road in San Diego Sunday morning has been identified, according to authorities.
The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s office identified the deceased as 14-year-old Angelina Cielo Santillan Coronel of San Diego.
The deadly wreck occurred at approximately 11:36 a.m. on May 3, 2026, in the 7600 block of Navajo Road near Golfcrest Drive, according to the San Diego Police Department.
Preliminary investigations indicate that a 35-year-old woman driving a 2017 Mazda 6 westbound on Navajo Road veered onto the north sidewalk, where the vehicle struck two pedestrians. The vehicle then continued and crashed into a tree in the center median.
Santillan Coronel, who was a passenger in the Mazda, was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 11:53 a.m. The driver sustained a broken ankle and was transported to a hospital. An 18-year-old male pedestrian suffered a concussion and an injured arm and was also taken for treatment. Two other children in the vehicle, ages 1 and 8, were not injured. No arrests were reported.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and authorities have not determined whether drugs or alcohol were factors.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and provided aid to the injured while securing the roadway.
The crash caused disruptions along Navajo Road as authorities conducted their investigation.
