Phoenix, AZ – Authorities have identified a woman who died after she was struck by a vehicle while riding a mobility scooter in Phoenix on Monday afternoon.

The Arizona DPS identified the woman as Adela Franco De Aiello, 78.

The deadly incident occurred at about 3:30 p.m. Monday, October 5, near 19th and Northern avenues.

Police said Franco De Aiello was in a crosswalk when she was struck by a driver who did not see her.

Investigators said she was crossing against the traffic signal at the time of the collision. She was taken to a hospital for treatment but later died from her injuries.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police said impairment is not believed to have been a factor.

The investigation into the fatal crash remains ongoing.
