San Diego, CA – A motorcyclist suffered major injuries after being struck by an SUV that overturned on Interstate 805 near the State Route 905 interchange in San Diego Thursday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported at approximately 4:40 p.m. on southbound I-805 at the SR-905 interchange.
According to the CHP incident log, a gray Toyota Sequoia was involved in the collision and overturned after hitting the right side of the roadway. The SUV came to rest on its side in the No. 1 lane.
As the SUV was overturning, it struck a motorcyclist. Emergency crews found the rider on the ground in the center divider and provided medical assistance.
CHP later reported that the motorcyclist suffered major injuries to the right leg. The rider was transported to the hospital with a broken right leg.
The crash blocked the No. 1 and No. 2 lanes, while the No. 3 lane remained passable.
Firefighters remained at the scene while authorities investigated the collision and worked to clear the roadway. Approximately 10 feet of the center-divider wall was also damaged in the crash.
The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation.
