The woman's body was located more than 12 hours after the crash occurred around 12:20 a.m. on Sea World Drive near West Mission Bay Drive.

San Diego, CA. – Authorities said a woman died in what they believe was a hit-and-run collision that happened early Saturday morning in San Diego, the San Diego Police Department reported.

Police officers who responded to the scene found two vehicles at the location around 2 a.m. One car had rear-ended the other.
Later in the day, about 1 p.m., police officers were called back to the area after a report of a person's body being found.
The officers found the body of a 61-year-old woman. Authorities believe she was a victim of the earlier collision.
Police believe one of the drivers fled the scene on foot after the crash.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
